IPL 2011 Auction Day 1 – Who Got Whom

As the cricket world gasped at the millions and hundreds of thousands at the IPL auction , day 1 auction of IPL amazed everyone . Before the IPL turned up, the word “auction” was understood to be “public sale” of “goods” or “property” or “articles” or “merchandise”. No dictionary contains the mention of people in an auction because in the history of mankind, the only human beings ever involved in public auctions were slaves. But surely that’s being too serious, too square. The IPL auction was just business, private money changing hands from one bunch of people to another. The merchandise on offer was cricketing skil . It’s what the IPL auction did this weekend for all of cricket: threw large sums of money at it, knocked it about and laughed .

The highest players were  bought by Kochi on first day . Players like Mahela Jayawardene , Muralitharan , Ravindra Jadeja, S Sreesanth, RP Singh , Brendon McCullum , Brad Hodge, VVS Laxman , Parthiv Patel , Steven Smith  and Ramesh Powar were bided by kochi team .  Second in the race were  Punjab Kings who lost yuvi but got players like David Hussey , Piyush Chawla , Adam Gilchrist , Dinesh Karthik , Praveen Kumar , Abhishek Nayar , Stuart Broad , Shaun Marsh  and Ryan Harris .  The    team  of  New Boys Pune bided  for top players like Robin utthapa , yuvraj singh, angelo , ashish nehra , Graeme Smith , Callum Ferguson , Tim Paine and Nathan McCullum . Kolkatta had bided the highest for the day  over $2million for players like Gautam Gambhir , yusuf Pathan , other players in the team are Jacques Kallis , manoj tiwari , Shakib Al Hasan, eoin morgan , Brett Lee and Brad Haddin .Followed by Decan Chargers  who have players like Dale Steyn , Cameron White  ,Kumar Sangakkara ,  Kevin Pietersen, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma , Shikhar Dhawan , JP Duminy  . The Royal challengers Bangalore didn’t bid much for Rahul Dravid  and instead  won players like Saurab Tiwari , AB de Villiers , Zaheer Khan , C Pujara , T Dilshan , Dirk Nannes  and Daniel Vettori . Chennai super Kings bided for players R Ashwin , S Badrinath , Doug Bollinger , Michael Hussey , Dwayne Bravo and Wriddhiman Saha . Delhi Daredevils bided for almost $2million for Irfan Pathan and have other players like David Warner, Morne Morkel, James Hopes, Aaron Finch and  Naman Ojha in their team . Low profile was kept by Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals , still they bided over 2millions for their players . Mumbai have players like Rohit Sharma ,Andrew Symonds, James Franklin  and David Jacobs. Rajasthan  bided maximum amount of $1million for Ross Taylor and rest players in the team are  Johan Botha, Rahul Dravid and Paul Collingwood .

Thus , the Day 1 ended in a hustle and  surprises , still lot more excitement was left for IPL 2011 Auction DAY2 .
