Shah Rukh positive about KKR’s chances in IPL 2010
March 10, 2010
Shah Rukh Khan is positive about Kolkata Knigh Riders’ chances in the IPL III. Announcing his team’s association with XXX energy drink, the Bollywood star said the team has left the past behind.
“We’ve brought in changes to the team and one of them is attitude. We also have added a new colour (purple) to our jersey,” he said in jest. “We’re focusing at the season ahead. We are ready for the new challenge.”
Skipper Sourav Ganguly said the need is to play freely. “This is what this format demands. We should all enjoy what we do. We’ll keep it simple. Whoever hits the white ball better will win.”
Coach Dav Whatmore, too, is confident. “The boys are very skillful. They have worked hard over the last few months and ready for the challenge ahead,” Whatmore stated.
Over the ongoing controversy between the National Broadcasters Association and the IPL, Shah Rukh said he was not aware of the issue.
“I don’t understand it, it’s too complicated and convoluted. NBA (National Broadcasters Association) is a fantastic unit. Lalit Modi (IPL chief) and his team are also a fantastic unit. I hope the issue will be resolved,” he said.

Shah Rukh dance During IPL
February 27, 2010
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday said he would sing and dance to cheer his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team during all the seven matches at Eden Gardens in the third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next month.
“I will sing, I will dance, I will be there to cheer up the boys,” KKR co-owner King Khan told reporters via video-conference.
SRK, as Shah Rukh is popularly known, had gone to South Africa to encourage his side during the first five matches of the IPL last year.
He said KKR, in association with Nokia, will host Para (neighbourhood) cricket to create a platform for a new generation of cricketers.
Korbo ! Lorbo! Magar Harbo Re….
May 5, 2009
Korbo ! Lorbo! Magar Harbo Re….seems more like the catch-word for the Knights (IPL Kolkata) this season as they lose yet another match; six on the trot to be precise! The only constant factor for them! So much so that there are numerous jokes on why it is safer to bet on a KKR match than on stocks! But what makes [losing] it worse this time is that it has taken away with it any chance that the Knight Riders harboured of making it to the next level!
This team had the best at their disposal; King Khan made sure …what with special camps at Australia, intense fitness regimes, multiple coaches. Alas! All in vein as victory remained elusive.
As a KKR exit seems almost imminent our heart goes out to King Khan…here’s hoping that the next edition brings him better luck!
All the KING’s men couldn’t help KKR win a match!
May 4, 2009
For a team that has more support staff than players; (Head coach ,Assistant- coach, Fielding coach ,Bowling coach, Throwing coach, Wicket keeping coach) and theories abound - multiple captaincy, YO-YO fitness tests and special camps,it is strange that the only form of victory that it has tasted is with a little bit of help from outside- the weather and the Duckworth- Lewis method!
The Knights seem to have got things horribly wrong this season II of the Indian Premiere League. First the controversy over multiple captaincy theory then the sacking of Saurav Gangully (as captain) at the very last moment to the mystery blogger; they have managed to be in the news for all the wrong reasons… And at the end of five games find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table with one win and one draw.
There are many questions that need to be answered for it is quite strange that the management send home two senior players after having played them for only two games!(Aakash chopra -2 and Sanjay Bangar-1) with a comment that cant get stranger than this…

” These are two[Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar] very good senior international players so John and the team management thought that if they are not going to have the opportunity [to play]it is unfair to keep them around”. The fact is that both these players are ill-equipped for T20 cricket and shouldn’t have been in the team in the first place.
Secondly they keep a seasoned spin bowler like Murali Kartik on the bench till it’s too late when we have already seen what the Kumbles, the Warnes and the likes of Bhajjis can do to the opposition. Then ofcourse they buy a player for 600 grands(MashrafeMortaza) and not use him!
It is high time that the KKR management especially its Chief of Cricketing Operations claimed responsibility for the team and did what is right for the Knight Riders. For the season seems to be lost but they must get back to winning ways and if there is one person who can meet this challenge it is Saurav Gangully! You may hate to admit it, Mr. Buchanan but reinstating the captaincy to Gangully is your only option at the moment!
